Courses can be not only fun, but helpful in resolving any communication problems between you and your partner.
Why not get together with your friends and book a course, they can be tailor made to fit a group or have a set program.As a qualified and fully insured horse trainer I travel all over Cornwall, so I can come to you.
Or book on one of the courses on offer at the new Horsewyse Equine Therapy Centre,nr Helston,Cornwall.
The weekends are very informal, with lots of practical fun and information.
A buffet style lunch is provided ( please let me know of any special dietry requiements) and the kettle is always on !
If you are feeling brave, there is camping on site or I can send details of local B&Bs.
As you know our weather is unpredictable, so please bring a change of clothes and the appropriate safety gear.
My horses are available to use on most of the courses - please ask.
All horses attending must be covered by Insurance.
* No stallions *
Note - there are pigs on site, while my horses try to get in with them I know some are not as keen !
Horsewyse Basic Skills 1 Dates
This course covers ground work, for you and your horse.
* The communication between you and your horse.
* Are you a positive and focused handler ?
* Boundries - do you have any ?
* Leading - whos leading who ?
* Moving the horses feet.
* Preparation for trailer loading,the farrier and vet.
Horsewyse Basic Skills 2 Dates
(This course can only be taken when the participant has attended Basic Skills 1)
This course expands on the Basic Skills 1 and moves everything off the ground into the saddle.
I am not teaching you to ride but to develop a soft hand and a sensitivity when riding.
* The communication between horse and rider.
* Are you a positive and focused rider.
* Helping your horse overcome its fears.
* Are you or your horse blocking each other ?
* Identifying potential problems ?
To Ride or not to Ride ? Dates
This course looks at why a horse may not want to be ridden and the reasons behind the
breakdown in communication.
* The communication between horse and rider.
* Are you and your horse " emotionally and physically fit ? "
* What is your horse telling you ?
* Trauma related behaviour.
* Checking your tack.
* When to call the the Chiropracter/Physiotherapist.
Horse Psychology and Behaviour Dates
This course looks at the hierachy and social structure within a herd and how the equine interacts with
humans.
The group will observe certain behaviour within a herd under different stimuli.
* How horses communicate with each other.
* Predator or prey ?
* Why does my horse do that ?
* Positive/negative reinforcement.
* Different trainers and their techniques eg Parelli,Monty Roberts,Perry Wood
